Legia signed a defender and... sent him on vacation. Europe awaits, Stojanović is packing his bags. All that's left is an inflatable flamingo and he can return to the bench.
Petar Stojanović, the new right-back of Legia Warsaw, will not play in the Europa League qualifying match against FK Aktobe, which will take place on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the stadium on Łazienkowska Street.
The "Army" team's opponent will be Kazakhstan's FK Aktobe. Although the Slovenian's transfer was billed as one of the key signings this summer, the player was not registered for the competition and will remain in Warsaw.
At first glance, it seemed like a training backlog. But how did it happen? Legia, despite an urgent need for reinforcements, allowed the player to... go on leave after signing the contract . The player didn't travel with the team to the training camp in Austria, and began training a few days later – individually, after the training camp.
As a result, the new defender not only failed to find his rhythm , but was not even included in the squad for the first European match. Meanwhile, the match against Aktobe is a crucial test at the start of the season – and Legia will have to cope without their recently signed player.
In this situation, it is difficult not to talk about the absurdity – the club brings in a player from abroad, boasts about the transfer, and then deprives itself of the opportunity to use him by giving him time off at a crucial moment in the preparations.
Today, fans are asking directly: is anyone at the club monitoring what's happening? Legia hasn't yet assembled a starting eleven, the squad looks incomplete, and right before a crucial match, it's a display of organizational carelessness.
Stojanović's debut came later in the season. But the first clash was already underway – and even before Legia took the field.
