Nigerian striker Hilary Gong is leaving Widzew. The player did not live up to the hopes placed in him in Łódź - he did not even score a goal in the 2024/25 season. Of the last 3 Widzew coaches, only Daniel Myśliwiec valued the sniper's skills. Hilary Gong will continue his career in a club of the Slovak Ekstraklasa, well known to Polish teams - Spartak Trnava.
The 26-year-old Nigerian sniper, Hilary Gong, played for Widzew Łódź in the 2024/25 season, a team that finished 13th in the Ekstraklasa season recently. Gong played 19 games in the 2024/25 season (18 times in the league and once in the Polish Cup), but unfortunately he failed to score a single goal or provide an assist. The striker's contract with the Łódź team was terminated by mutual consent.
Gong joined the ranks of a club from the Slovak top league - Spartak Trnava. Polish clubs have competed with this team many times in the qualifiers of European competitions. It seems that for both Widzew and Hilary Gong, the transfer of the striker to Trnava will be a positive event. For Widzew - because the sniper did not fulfill the hopes placed in him in Łódź and did not help the team to take even 10th place in the table, for Gong - because returning to the Slovak league after a year's break should restore the right direction to the player's career (in the 2023/24 season Hilary played for the Slovak AS Trencin).
