Górnik Zabrze has announced a new sponsor. Turkish airline Corendon Airlines has joined the partners of the 14-time Polish champion, signing a two-season agreement that runs until June 30, 2027. This is another step in the dynamic development of the club, which has surprised in recent months not only with transfers, but also with ambitious business moves.
The announcement of the new sponsor took place during a special press conference at the Zamoyski Palace in Warsaw, which in itself was an unusual choice for the club from Zabrze. The event attracted media attention, and the presence of the Turkish ambassador to Poland, Rauf Alp Denktaş, highlighted the importance of this cooperation. Corendon Airlines, known for its charter flights and strong position in the tourism market, especially in Turkey, has gained a prominent place on Górnik's match shorts. The company's logo will also appear on the stadium branding and on the club's social media, ensuring wide brand visibility.
The sponsorship agreement is worth around PLN 800,000 per year, which is a significant financial support for Górnik. As emphasized by Dr. Bartłomiej Gabryś, a member of the club's board, "cooperation with Corendon Airlines is a lasting support of a solid, reliable partner who will be with us for two years." He also added that Górnik's goal is to gradually catch up with the level of clubs from stronger Western leagues, and the new sponsor is to be a key element of this plan.
Lukas Podolski, Górnik's icon and one of the most recognizable footballers in the club's history, played a significant role in finalizing the agreement. "Poldi", thanks to his performances in the Turkish teams Galatasaray Istanbul and Antalyaspor, established excellent business contacts on the local market. It was his involvement that had a significant impact on signing the contract with Corendon Airlines. Podolski not only played a role in the negotiations, but will also actively participate in the sponsor's marketing campaigns, which will certainly increase the attractiveness of cooperation for both parties.
The announcement of a new sponsor is part of the broader context of changes at Górnik Zabrze. The club, which took 9th place in the PKO Ekstraklasa last season, does not hide its ambition to fight for higher goals. Under the leadership of a new coach, Michal Gasparik, and with a dynamic transfer policy (10 new players, including Korean Young-jun Goh), Górnik wants not only to improve its sports results, but also to strengthen its business position.
In addition, the club recently broke its transfer record by selling 17-year-old Dominik Sarapata to FC Copenhagen for 4 million euros plus bonuses. These funds, combined with a new sponsor, give Górnik a solid foundation for implementing ambitious plans, such as fighting for the Polish Cup or returning to European competition.
For Górnik Zabrze fans, cooperation with Corendon Airlines is not only a reason for optimism, but also a chance for new initiatives. Perhaps the partnership will include special travel offers for fans who would like to accompany the team to away games. The Corendon logo on the shorts is also a symbol of a new chapter – a club that combines tradition with modernity and global aspirations.
Górnik Zabrze's partnership with Corendon Airlines is more than just a sponsorship deal – it is a strategic move that strengthens the club's position on the market and opens up new opportunities. With the support of the Turkish aviation giant, the commitment of Lukas Podolski and the ambitious plans of the board, Górnik enters the new season with its head held high. Will this translate into success on the pitch? Time will tell, but one thing is certain – no one in Zabrze is standing still.
