Just weeks after starting his tenure at Legia Warsaw, Edward Iordănescu, the former Romanian national team coach, reportedly feels disappointed and betrayed by the capital club's management . At least that's what Romanian media outlets are reporting, as they've been widely commenting on the situation of the new Legia Warsaw coach in recent days.

Empty promises?

According to information provided by legionisci.com, Iordănescu accepted Legia's offer, believing in the ambitious vision presented to him. One of the key arguments that convinced him were the announcements of significant transfers and a real strengthening of the team before the start of the 2025/26 season. However, the reality proved different. The training camp in Austria began without any spectacular reinforcements , and the coach's current squad consists largely of second-string players and youth players. This development was said to have greatly surprised Iordănescu, who—according to Romanian journalists— feels misled by the club .

Crisis at the start?

This is a worrying sign for Legia, which needs stability and trust in its sporting structures after a disastrous 2024/25 season. Meanwhile, it seems that friction between the coach and the board is emerging at the very beginning of the new term . If reports from the Romanian media are confirmed, the club could face serious problems not only with building a squad but also retaining a new coach, who—as history shows—can be decisive and isn't afraid to make radical decisions.
