Roma strengthens: Wesley from Flamengo for ~€30 million

AS Roma has officially completed the transfer of Flamengo right-back Wesley Vinícius Françi – cost: €25 million plus €5 million in bonuses, or approximately €30 million.

The 21-year-old (born 2003), debuting with the Brazilian national team (March 2025), has signed a five-year contract until 2030 and will wear number 43, becoming the 46th Brazilian in Giallorossi history. Wesley is a typical Gasperini wing-back: dynamism, pressing, and attacking connections. He was a pillar at Flamengo – 54 matches in 2023, over 100 appearances in all competitions, and triumphs in the Copa Libertadores (2022), Copa do Brasil, and Supercopa (2025).

This is a strategic move – after Gasperini took over, the Giallorossi are definitely aiming to modernize their wings.

Napoli lands long-term goalkeeper: Milinković-Savić joins Naples

Serie A champions SSC Napoli have finalized a deal for goalkeeper Vanja Milinković-Savić from Torino – a loan with an obligation to buy for €21.5 million at the end of the season. The 28-year-old Serbian, with an impressive height of 2.02 m, is a regular captain for Torino, having amassed 146 Serie A appearances and a staggering 45 clean sheets – as well as 19 international caps for Serbia. Milinković-Savić will compete with Alex Meret – Napoli are forming a solid partnership in front of goal as they prepare to pursue another Scudetto.

The transfer is in line with Conte’s offensive policy – De Bruyne, Beukema and others are joining – although the club has stretched the payment, opting for a pre-purchase model for a flexible budget.

Outlook for the 2025/26 season

• Wesley : A typical wing-back in Gasperini's 3-5-2 system, his pace and attacking power could bring a breath of fresh air to Roma's right flank.

• Milinković-Savić : his presence in goal could be crucial to maintaining Napoli's high defensive quality – crucial in the fight for the title.

Both clubs clearly declare their ambitions: Roma focuses on youth and energy, Napoli on experience and quality in crucial areas of the pitch.
